We recently interviewed Bailey Elder, an amazing designer who designed our latest clothing launch. She seamlessly captured our essence with her swirling lines and amorphous shapes, and we couldn’t have been more happy with the result! Learn a little bit more about her below, follow her on instagram, and rock her designs with some GRLSWIRL merch!

Where are you from and where do you live now?

I am from Kentucky. I currently live in Brooklyn, NY.

Whats your favorite item or thing in your life right now?

Meditation, evolving, being kind, listening, freedom! Currently I am at an artist residency in the desert, really enjoying the freedom of time and being able to tap deep into some ideas that have been in the back of my brain. Finally able to get some of those out into the physical world, feels nice! Some other topics at the top of my list: whole earth systems, human design, trying to live as sustainable as possible, Carlos Castaneda.

When did you realize you wanted to be a designer?

When I was little I would always be so stoked on the packaging of a toy rather than the actual toy. I always loved collaging and organizing objects by color and size. I collaged my entire room when I was in high school. I finally went to art school and got a B.F.A in communication art and design, been spiraling ever since.

What was your inspiration for the GRLSWIRL designs?

The designs came pretty naturally to me, especially with the name GRLSWIRL and the fact that GRLSWIRL is based in Venice, which is close to the ocean! I love the ocean, and it is a constant source of inspiration to me and all of the nature that surrounds it. My favorite is when ocean meets the mountains.

What does community mean to you?

Community is SO necessary for humans and their happiness! When you can be your true authentic self and really vibrate with a group of people, that's where the magic is at.

Tell us something you’d like the world to know.

Love is the most important thing. It's all you can do really!
