Skate Mentorship - Defy Gravity I with Sand Sisters

Together with local organization Sand Sisters, GRLSWIRL community members volunteered to teach young girls how to skateboard while inspiring self-esteem and creating lasting friendships.  

Each GRLSWIRL volunteer was paired up with a Sand Sister girl through out the day to show her the basics of skateboarding and create their own artwork out of blank skate decks donated by Carver Skateboards. Girls used magazines to create vision board collages on their blank skate decks.

An amazing day filled with laughs, friendship and skating!  

Sand Sisters Los Angeles’ is a youth empowerment program designed to give girls the tools to build a strong sense of self. Our mission is to make every girl feel seen, valued and heard.
